Listed below are
synopses of a selection of seminars the Training Center has offered in 2006:
1. “Language
Integration” by Alpha Learning
The training was to give an overview of the belief and value system of an
average Nigerian from the three major tribes (Yoruba, Ibo and Hausa). It was to
intimate the Expatriate Managers with basic greetings and business language used
in every day transaction so as to aid effective communication which is
necessary for effective marketing and sales.
2. “Strategic Warehousing And Store Management” by Tom Associates.
It was a special training organised for warehouse staff. Its aim was to make
them understand the strategic importance of warehousing and stores management in
company profitability, appreciate the underlying principles and applications of
material requirements planning, and help to implement good warehousing
practices.
3. “Unified Team” by Mr. Srivastava
The objective of the training was to help the participants to understand the
importance of unity of team in achieving the organizational objective and the
role of the individual within the team. The training discourse was also on the
importance of identifying and working towards ones core competencies while
pooling resources together within a team. It was emphasized that a team’s effort
will always result in superior performance that beats aggregate individual
performance.
4. “Accounting For Non-Accountants” by Dr. Batth (Chellarams Plc)
The objective was to sensitize the Sales personnel on the topic, help them to
know the importance of balance sheet and other accounting terms in order to
boost their sales performance. To let them know that Accounting goes beyond
Profit and Loss account as it is being perceived.
5. “Neuro-Linguistic Programming” by Narita Learning
This training was designed for the top management team and its purpose was to
help build their models on how to perform/accomplish their set goals. Since,
NLP is about human perception, thinking and behaviour, it helped to create an
understanding of how humans perceive their world, how we organise thinking,
feeling, skills and behaviour. This, they were trained to apply on their work
responsibilities to unlock the secrets of highly effective communication at work
place.
6. “Kaizen” by Dr. Jayanth Murthy
The word “Kaizen” is a Japanese word meaning improvement. This improvement is a
gradual and continuous one. It is a never ending process. Therefore, the
training was set to sensitize the management on how to affect continuous growth
and improvement of the company through effort, quality, willingness to change,
communication and involvement of all employees through teamwork, discipline and
good morale.
